About the Author

authorKen Lubinski is retired from the US Geological Survey where he authored more than thirty scientific papers. He led the initial design of one of the largest river monitoring programs in the world. He served for six years as a board member for the International Society for River Sciences.

His book “Things that Flow” is his first attempt at telling river stories.  Lubinski and his wife, Sara, live near the Mississippi River in southeastern Minnesota.

Ken continues to advise natural resource agencies and conservation organizations like American Rivers, the Fishers and Farmers Partnership, and the Floodplain Science Network.  He voluntarily facilitates a forest restoration effort for the Reno Bottoms on the Upper Mississippi River. His business is KSL Consulting.
